About Show Me Fire
Show Me Fire is a research project developed by Cade Woolaway, an atmospheric science student at the University of Missouri School of Natural Resources. While comprehensive fire weather tools exist for the western United States, they often don't align with the unique fire danger conditions experienced across Missouri. This platform provides fire weather and behavior information tailored specifically to the Show Me State, serving as a centralized hub for weather forecasters, emergency managers, and state and local fire management agencies across Missouri.
My hope is that this platform will give first responders and fire management personnel better situational awareness of conditions across the state at any given time. Missouri is incredibly diverse in terms of land use, population, and environment, so when it comes to fire weather forecasting and monitoring, a one-size-fits-all approach simply doesn’t work for our state.
